Falling short on Labour Day

Image
If you find yourself falling short on Labour Day, there are several things you can do to still recognize the importance of the holiday and honor the contributions of workers: 1- Take some time to reflect on the role that workers have played in your life. Think about the people who have worked hard to provide the goods and services that you rely on, and the sacrifices they have made to do so. 2- Educate yourself about the current challenges facing workers in your community and around the world. This could involve reading news articles, attending a local rally or event, or speaking with workers in your own workplace or industry. 3- Express gratitude to the workers in your life. This could involve thanking a coworker for their hard work, leaving a note of appreciation for your local grocery store clerk, or simply taking a moment to acknowledge the contributions of the people around you. 4- Consider supporting worker advocacy organizations or other groups that are working to improve l...

Kim Jong Un’s sister warns US-S Korea pact risks ‘serious danger’

Image
The warning from Kim Jong Un's sister is not surprising, given the tense relations between North Korea and the United States and South Korea. The US-South Korea pact she is referring to is likely the recently signed military agreement between the two countries, which includes plans to increase joint military drills and the deployment of US military assets to South Korea. Kim Yo Jong has been a rising star in North Korean politics and has been increasingly visible in recent years, often appearing alongside her brother at official events. Her statement is a sign that the North Korean regime is closely monitoring the situation and is willing to speak out against what it sees as provocative actions by the United States and its allies. The United States has long been a target of North Korean propaganda, and the regime often uses anti-American rhetoric as a way to rally support among its citizens. However, it's important to approach these statements with caution and to view them in...

Yosemite Partly Closing Before Expected Snowmelt Floods

Image
Yosemite National Park has announced that it will be partly closing due to the risk of flooding from snowmelt. The park will close its lower elevations and popular hiking trails, to allow for preparations and potential response to flooding. The closure is being implemented as a precautionary measure, as the park expects significant snowmelt this year due to heavy winter snowfall. This snowmelt has the potential to cause flooding in low-lying areas of the park, which could be dangerous for visitors and damage park infrastructure. During the closure period, visitors will still be able to access higher elevation areas of the park, including Yosemite Valley and Tioga Road, but all other areas will be closed. The park has also advised visitors to be cautious and aware of potential flooding in areas that remain open. This closure is a reminder of the importance of being prepared for natural disasters and taking appropriate precautions to ensure public safety. Parks and other public spa...
